Summer is almost here and this month the weather has been great. It has been absolutely beautiful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a great summer.

And yes, the off season is starting and we are still open and intend to be open all summer. Music will still be happening every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights here at Philo's.

What an incredible gathering! Our benefit for Maria's mom Lupe Chavez was a huge success. We raised $36,360 pesos. The money will help but the real benefit will be the showing of support from the community for our beautiful Lupe. Both Maria and her mom are overwhelmed by the show of support and for your generous donations. Over 200 people came to the benefit and about 30 musicians showed up to play. It was wonderful. Thank you Mandy and the Britannia Pub and thank you everyone for your participation and for helping make this such a great event.

And tonight Monday the 15 of April will be the grand finale for our Loosie Goosie semi acoustic Jam Sessions. Music starts at 7:30 pm. Bring your instruments. Thank you Willem for you help through out the year.

For those of you who will be here on this Sunday May 5th, the International Festival of Altruism will be taking place again this year at the Marriott Hotel in Puerto Vallarta. It is important to us because it is one of our best sources of money for our own Friendship Club, now called the "Amigos Medical Assistance Program," which is my favorite local charity. 100 percent of the money collected goes to 24 different charities and the "Amigos Medical Assistance Program" is one of them. Also, 100% of the money collected for our Amigos Medical Assistance Program goes for medical expenses and health programs for our community.

The International Festival of Altruism is an incredible cultural and gastronomic show. This year 37 of the very best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta will have "all you can eat booths" presenting their special meals. The candy booths and dessert booths alone are worth the cost of the ticket. 300 pesos for an advance ticket gets you in the door and everything from then on is free. 400 pesos at the door the day of the event. And... every year they keep out doing themselves with food and entertainment. It is a very special event and not to be missed. You can come by Philo's anytime and get tickets. Please note that none of these stories are absolute. I fear that some of us are panicking about what to do with our foreign plated autos. If we stay as informed as we can and use good common sense, I suspect that we’ll come out of it just fine.

We have another La Cruz Days Parade coming up soon. This year's parade will be held on the evening of Thursday, April 25th. The parade is the beginning of a 9 day event to celebrate our Pueblo's patron saint. If you participated last year you probably remember how much fun everyone had marching through town, proudly holding their Amigos signs representing our different programs and committees. This year we are hoping to get a flatbed truck big enough accommodate Philo and the Mexican Shuffle band. Should be a blast. Come join us.
